  • Integrating with jQuery, Adding Pagination

Posted on September 30th, 2008; at 7:55 pm, in Tutorials

This stuff can be seen as a continuation of an earlier tutorial integrating external search into a MODx site. This approach is however not limited to any kind of CMS or solution whatsoever, it’s totally agnostic through the use of Ajax.

This way is a bit wasteful though as we have to do two roundtrips to the server each time the main page is loaded. On the other hand once a search is performed we will be better off through the use of Ajax to retrieve each page in the result set, no need to reload the whole page.

  • Adding to Our Leopard Desktop with jQuery

Posted on September 30th, 2008; at 7:47 pm, in Tutorials

Last Week, NETTUTS got you all to create a neat looking Dashboard/Desktop. You guys are gonna totally FLIP when you hear what’s in this jam packed tutorial! More focus on the Dashboard (it’s cooler than it sounds, and requires a lot of code), and they even go into how to create a stack (seperate from the dock, sorry jqDock doesn’t like nestled <ul>s), and some extra little bits to make it all click.

  • 105 Delicious Water Color Illustrator Brushes

Posted on September 30th, 2008; at 11:12 am, in Freebies

Last week colorburned released 106 delicious water color Illustrator brushes. Two days ago, they released part two of that set. Part Two includes an additional 105 amazingly realistic-looking water color Illustrator brushes.

Part Two looks even better that Part One. You should definitely download this set and try it out for yourself. Like Set One, this set is perfect for creating multi-colored brush strokes and could easily be used to create an artsy, hand-painted design or a children’s illustration.

To use these brushes you will first need to download the brush file and save it to your hard drive.  Once downloaded, open up your brush palette and in the fly out menu select Open Brush Library > Other Library > and locate the file on your hard drive. To use these brushes you must be using Illustrator CS and above. Once you have the brush file open, you can start applying these brushes to your lines and shapes.

  • Top 7 Most Cliché Stock Images Used in Web Design

Posted on September 30th, 2008; at 8:12 am, in Info
Sometimes clients ask us to implement ‘not-so-unique’ elements into our designs and sometimes it seems almost impossible to convince them otherwise, however, hopefully this post can suggest some reasons why not to use the old web design stock imagery clichés.

I will do this simply by showcasing the most generic and cliché stock images (still) used in web design today. Please also take note that there is nothing wrong with using any of these images if used appropriately.
